St. Theresa Mission Hospital began the renovation and expansion of the Labour Ward and Pharmacy department, a project that was fully funded by your organisation; Direct Aid for Africa (DAFA) in response to the requests from the members of staff and the community it serves. Since 1960 when the hospital was constructed, the infrastructure has had no major renovations. The hospital which started as a clinic has a lot of activities done and the community has grown with increased population. This has created demand for the expansion of the delivery/labour ward and expansion medicine storage at the pharmacy. The Hospital also serves a referral center for rural and remote health posts for complicated labour.
The project was actualized following the visit by the Director for DAFA Mr. Barney Curley during which he pledged to support the hospital to expand the labour and pharmacy department. The project is of great importance to the hospital and community it serves as it will enhance service delivery. The renovated and expanded Pharmacy department has added value to the safe storage of essential medicines and medical supplies for better efficacy. The renovated and expanded labour ward has created enough working space for midwives, enhanced security and an infant monitoring system.
